Christi Comp Squadron Aviators Attend Simulator

Corpus Christi, Texas- Cadets and Officers from the Corpus Christi Composite
Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol journeyed to NAS Kingsville Tuesday 28
February 2006 for some flying time in that installation’s GOSHAWK flight
simulator.
The unit met at the Memorial Army Reserve Center on McArdle and departed for
Kingsville, Texas at about 4:00 p.m. and rendezvoused with Kingsville Area
Civil Air Patrol Officers and NAS Kingsville contact person Bert Alvarez some
45 minutes later. The project officer for the excursion was Capt Fidel
Alvarado.

“This is a great Aerospace Education opportunity,”
Alvarado said, “we are thankful for the opportunity extended to us by NAS
Kingsville.”
The squadron members were able to practice aerial maneuvers, formation flying
and even carrier landings; greatly augmenting the unit’s Aerospace Education
Mission. The Corpus Christi squadron would like to thank the U.S. Navy, Naval
Air Station Kingsville and simulator instructor Mr. Bert Alvarez.
The general weekly meeting of the Corpus Christi Composite Squadron of the
Civil Air Patrol (CAP) for senior members and cadets is from 7 to 9 p.m. at

Mr. Bert Alvarez and
Major Victor Medina, Jr. pause a moment while a cadet is prepared for the
GOSHAWK Simulator at NAS KINGSVILLE. Major Medina joined the Civil Air Patrol
in 1968 and served in the Pacific during WWII.
